Acer platanoides, commonly known as the Norway Maple, is a highly valued deciduous ornamental tree that combines strong structure, reliable growth, and excellent seasonal colour. Well suited to medium and larger gardens, Acer platanoides provides a broad, shapely canopy and bold foliage that makes it ideal as a feature tree, avenue tree, or for adding height and presence within a planting scheme. These trees are typically grown as standards and develop a dense, rounded crown with large, five-lobed green leaves that create a full and attractive appearance through spring and summer. In autumn, the foliage turns rich shades of yellow, orange, and brown, extending the season of interest. In spring, clusters of small yellow flowers appear on bare branches before the leaves emerge, adding early ornamental value. Acer platanoides is hardy, adaptable, and performs well in a wide range of soils and garden settings, making it a dependable choice for both traditional and contemporary landscapes.
