Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa)

The Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) is a popular deciduous tree known for its dense, thorny growth and attractive small, dark green leaves, which turn yellow in autumn. It produces an abundance of delicate white flowers in early spring, often appearing before the leaves, followed by dark purple-blue berries known as sloes in autumn. Pruning Blackthorn is best done after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage dense growth. These Blackthorn trees are a superb pleached tree option for screening unwanted views, providing excellent privacy throughout spring, summer and autumn.
